Where has the time gone? Just yesterday it was the last day of March, and here it is summer solstice. Goodness, it’s been a long time since I wrote a post. A lot has happened.
Spring flowers have come and gone. Irises have bloomed and are almost completely gone. It’s now time for my daylilies. Their sunny faces are greeting the light of day.
The vegetable garden is going strong and my peas are producing like crazy. My tomatoes have finally set their first fruit, and my turnips, beets, and onions are starting to bulb out.
Today I started digging up my irises so that I can divide them. I think I’m going to turn this location into a new spot for my strawberry patch, and move the irises to where the strawberries were. I have been thinking about moving my strawberries for two years. Because we live down slope from someone who uses a lot of pesticides in the garden, and I’m tired of eating pesticides.
Today is the summer solstice, and I’m writing this post sitting out on my back deck as the sun slowly wanes in the west.
My kitties continue to watch of the garden, and we seem to have picked up the fourth. A stray has been trying to adopt us, and we keep feeding him, so he keeps coming back.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful summer. I’m not looking forward to the Fourth of July. Not too long off.
